Medical decision making for patients and their loved ones is often emotionally painful. With the continuing advancement in medical technology, these decisions are not only painful, but also confusing. Because of this, there is a need to provide the faithful with easy to understand resources to help formed them in Church teaching in this area.
Life Affirming Choices is a series of five seminars are designed to provide seniors and their caregivers an easy-to-understand guide to medical decision-making in the latter stages of life. They can be presented in a parish setting as well as in hospitals, senior living centers and nursing facilities.
Topics include assisted nutrition and hydration, Do Not Resuscitate Orders, pain management and palliative care, withholding and withdrawing treatment and Advanced Directives.
